Marketplace Monday and today I'm featuring two amazing artists and their Etsy shops!

Hello all! Today is Marketplace Monday again and I will be featuring two fantastic artists from the OFG Team today! Isn't it twice the fun when you can learn about TWO artists and take a look at their creative creations from their more than noteworthy Etsy shops? At the end you will have double the fun of being sent to BasketbyRose's and Valley Prims shops and will see even more of what the OFG members have to offer!

The first crafter is amazing with her creations of making handmade baskets. Rose Clawson weaves her magic into every creation she makes and can do some amazing things with those abilities. Weaving baskets is not an easy skill to learn but with her skill you would think she had been doing it all of her life.....and actually I think she has!LOL Would it be any wonder with her ablitity to work her weaving into pretty challenging shapes! NOW this is talent! I picked out some of my favorites for you to see and you too will be in awe of her talent!

Not only is Rose well known for her weaving skills and her noteworthy baskets...she is talented with her sewing skills as well! She has the most beautiful quilts, candle mats, table rugs, pumpkin stacks, cute vintage ornaments and her prim stitcheries that would be perfect for your home! Her talents are many and is respected amongst her fellow crafters for her range and abilities! My shop name is Basketsbyrose My name is Rose and I weave baskets. To easy!

I have been on Etsy a little over one year.

Hand woven baskets, quilts, stitchery, and some other items that I love to make.

4. How long have you been crafting?

I started sewing at age 5, made my wedding dress many many years ago. In 2008 I made over 150 baskets for my sons wedding.

5. Who or What inspires you?
Everyone inspires me I love to look at the work everyone does.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
Now it would be the mantel basket or the broken dish quilt with all the colors. Early this year it would be the sunflower baskets, but I’m happy to say that I sold them.

The second artist I have to feature is Kim Orcutt. I can't believe the handstitching this gal can do! What a shop and what a talent! She can do stitcheries that are just so beautiful and prim that you will just want everything in her shop! I have to admit...I wouldn't be any good at handstitching anything! It takes a great amount of patience and you have to be very skilled with knowing certain stitches and it takes a special person to carryout this craft and do it well! Kim is one of those people and you just have to see her work! I love everything...but my heart really went with the wonderful towels! You know how much stitched things like this are in the store? Most of all of this stitchery today is done by machine....not by hand to boot!! Kim has that certain something that just wants you to keep coming back to see more and more! Good morning readers. It is Monday once again and here is another fabulous artist from the Olde Farmhouse Gathering Team! Today my featured artist is a crafter of all talents and has a shop that is to die for! I could take everything she/ and her husband create and find many places to put in all of the rooms of my home and still wouldn't get enough. From their wooden bowl shelves to their rustic stacking boxes and country stitcheries and tyme of olde signs, rolling pins and handcrafted shelves Carol's shop is any primitive/ handcrafter lover's dream! If you LOVE things in your home that say primitive perfection she must have it because this is just a small taste of what you will see! Her husband is the mind behind the wonderful wooden items and Carol is the artist that puts that fab primitive finished look to everything her shop contains! Firecrackerkid Primitives. I chose this name, because I was born on the 4th of July, and my family always called me "the firecrackerkid". My father said when I was born I came out with a bang, jokingly of course. Plus it's Independence Day, and I really love my country, and my freedom so it all fits together nicely.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?
One year and four months

3. What type of items do you offer?
One-of-a-kind Woodcrafts and reproduction woodcrafts of different Early American dough bowl racks and furniture.

4. How long have you been crafting?
Twenty years.

5. Who or What inspires you?
The love of all things Primitive. Plus, the economy is what inspired my husband and myself to make our own Primitives. My husband is who inspires me, because of his hard work ethics, and the fact that he can do just about anything or any challenge put before him. He's a hard working man. A Jack-of-all-trades so to speak. He was a carpenter since he was a teenager, and even built our home along with several other homes locally. Pretty inspiring and impressive to me.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
That would be our one-of-a-kind items. We like to come up with unique primitive woodcrafts that are appealing to others, and yet at the same time are functional in the home.

Welcome to OFG's Monday Marketplace!

Hello everyone! Today's featured Etsy store designer/artist is Appletree Cottage Designs. Her shop is full of gorgeous wooden delights that she has created herself from a block of wood to a work of art and then adding special touches with the beautiful paintings she has given each item! Talent is such a small word when looking at the finished products...each creation has that special something that makes them stand out and make them so special! All of her items are true works of a "master" from the formation of the wood in her projects...to anything that she casts her magic over to act as a canvas for her WONDERFUL painting ablility! Each item would look beautiful in any primitive, rustic, olde world home...or ANY home for that matter! The country/primitive feel is so appealing that I can see you going back many times just to be able to make your choice of what your favorite item in her shop would be ..and would be taking home to become part of your home decoration. ( I can see some of those items in my kitchen on a primitive old cupboard, in my livingroom as a centerpiece for my coffee table, or on my antique dinner table!) They all would add to any room or any piece of furniture they are so lovely and perfectly prim! When I was a little girl, my family moved. I was very lonely but found a library near our home, so I would walk there every day and spend hours browsing at books. I found a book titled Apple Tree Cottage and I was absolutely swept away by it. The cottage was a magical place where peace and love was found. I decided if I would name my shop in honor of this book that has such an impression on me when I was young.

2. How long have you been on Etsy?
I joined Etsy in January, 2008.

3. What type of items do you offer?
I offer an eclectic mix of vintage, folk art and primitive items. I love to paint on old pieces that have a story to tell when they come my way.

4. How long have you been crafting? FOREVER!
I have been fortunate to be surrounded by people who have encouraged me since I was small. My husband and my daughter are my two biggest fans.

5. Who or What inspires you?
I love things that come to me with a history. Old boxes, drawers and coffee pots have a story to tell and I like to add just a little “prim” icing on the cake when I find a piece that longs to be reinvented.

6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I can’t say I have one favorite piece. I love everything I paint… each item in my store is something that I would place in my own home.

Aren't these snowmen, santas and Christmas items GREAT! It takes a very talented artist to make such a variety of fantastic works of art! Where can you find such an artist? Well Etsy is filled with artists that have great talent and specialize in everything handmade! One group to reflect this wonderful talent is the Olde Farmhouse Gathering Team!

Welcome to Olde Farmhouse Gathering's first Marketplace Monday! Otherwise known as OFG...is starting a new promotion where different artists are being featured in our blogs every Monday! This group is filled with very talented artists from painters to sewers, sign designers, many more crafts that are made by hand. The styles range from extreme primitive to shabby chic.

It was very hard to decide who to choose for my first shop to promote, since every artist is just so talented, so I dug right in and started with someone that shares a love of snowmen and Christmas items like I do! These items caught my eye and just had to feature the creator of the selection of items shown above! I hope you enjoy learning about this designer and looking at their items! 1. What is the name of your Etsy shop and why did you choose that name?
The name of my shop is SnowmanCollector and if you have a look around you will see that the reason I chose that name is obviousļ I have developed a great love for all things Snowman!


2. How long have you been on Etsy?
I have been on Etsy only since April, 2009. I am fairly new but am learning more every day and loving it!


3. What type of items do you offer?
I offer mostly seasonal items ¡V stuffed snowmen, santas, ornies, etc. I also have a few wreaths and wallhangings mixed in to keep it interesting, both for those looking at my shop and for myself as a crafter.


4. How long have you been crafting?
I have been crafting for close to 20 years. I started doing quilting and things just kind of evolved. I started doing local craft shows about 10 years ago. I enjoyed it so much that I wanted to branch out a little but didn¡¦t know how or where (I live in a very rural area) and then I discovered Etsy!!!


5. Who or What inspires you?
What inspires me? Everything! There are so many ideas floating in my head, I will never do them all. Plus there are so many new things I want to learn, like rug hooking.


6. What is your favorite item in your shop and why?
I can¡¦t pick. Usually whatever I am working on at the time is my favorite item.

At the moment I am only on Etsy. But I am trying to overcome my fear of CyberSpace and hope to at least be on Facebook shortly.

All I can say is how has the summer slipped away and I don't remember alot of what happened ? I really can't say it has been that great of a spring or summer with all of the rain but I guess we move on regardless and just hope our colder months are more forgiving!

A friend of mine in the APSG , an ebay group of artists, brought this forum to my attention and I thought I'd check it out! For free what does anyone have to lose but find out that the forum is not for them or may be pleasantly surprised and find out that this is the answer that you have been looking for! The trouble is when you don't try new things ... you end up cutting yourself off from choices that could be very good and help your growth as a person and as an artist! Taking Special Orders on Annies, Mammys or Andys on Swings!

Hello all! My husband and I have come across a new way to sell my larger Annie dolls, 22" tall. My husband has an ability to create out of wood and I to sew dolls so we combined talents to come up with a brand new way to market what we do! We have gotten into making Annies, Andys or Mammys, with little doll pins, on swings and have been selling quite a few of them within my local area. Actually, these dolls, and their way to be presented has become a hit! I am now offering to take special orders for anyone that would like to have one of these great combos for their very own. I will be asking $80 for each set sold and will be charging a cost of $9.00 for shipping and handling to be sent to you priority mail.(If you should chose a different way for your item to be sent is will probably would save you some $$$.) I will gladly give you an estimate if you let me know your preferred way of having it sent and zip.) ***This would be for U.S. sales ONLY!***

That is a total of $89.00 for ONE doll of your choice: Annie, Mammy OR Andy, a doll pin for the females /none for the male, and a swing to display them on! I have put one on my porch and is just adorable! It could also be displayed indoors and is made to be kept on the swing or taken off. They are made with a pouch on their backs in ensure that a doll that is meant to stay ON the swing won't come off. It will require the stick that is connected to the doll's back being removed from the pouch to take the doll off the swing. You decide how you want your items displayed and it can always be reversed!

My email will be at the end of this message. (I only have a Annie and Mammy that are dressed as the pictures shown here but just would have to make the swings.
